Bunbury Diocese is in the south-west of Western Australia. Located 100 kms south of Perth it stretches from the city of Mandurah, to the city of Albany on the south coast.
In Mandurah, Christ’s Church is located centrally; the city is famous for crabbing, holiday destinations, performing arts and the entrance to beautiful inland waterways. The city of Bunbury is a busy port for both cargo and cruise ships, the “back beaches” on the west side are very popular for swimming and surfing. The Cathedral of St Boniface is located high on a hill overlooking Bunbury. 56 kms south of Bunbury is the city of Busselton, famous for the longest jetty in the southern hemisphere (1.8 kilometres), once made of timber now rebuilt using concrete. St Mary’s Anglican Church is on the bank of the Vasse River and is the oldest stone church in Western Australia. The gateway to the winegrowing region, there are more vineyards in the locality of Busselton than the famously known Margaret River region. On the lower south coast, some 400 kms from Mandurah is the city of Albany, also a large port for cargo and cruise ships. In the early 1900‘s many Group Settlers disembarked from their ships in Albany and made their way by train to Northcliffe, Pemberton and Busselton. St John’s Anglican Church is located in the main street; also built of stone it overlooks the inland water. Albany once famous for whaling now houses a museum at the former whaling station. Many ships set sail in 1914 to go to the Great War from Albany heading out through The Princess Royal Harbour. Members: 165 (2018) There are two Anglican Schools’ Commission schools in the Diocese, Frederick Irwin (Mandurah) and Georgiana Molloy (Busselton), both K-12 also Bunbury Cathedral Grammar K-12 including boarders. All of these branches across the Diocese share a common bond of prayer, love and sharing, dedication and encouragement. Members meet monthly, have guest speakers, outings and carry out projects which include:
Small branches meet together a couple of times a year, celebrating the Eucharist and maybe a day out together. As many members as possible travel to Bunbury to celebrate Lady Day in March when long service awards are made, Bishop Allan presides over the Eucharist and we enjoy a wonderful lunch with a guest speaker. Country Rally is celebrated in a different branch each August, we celebrate the Eucharist followed by lunch and a guest speaker. In November we gather again in Bunbury for our end of year Annual Meeting presided over by Bishop Allan. |
Rugs from Knitted Squares

Here is one of the many beautiful rugs that are put together from the hundreds of faithfully knitted squares. These squares are delivered regularly to Bunbury where they are then knitted into colourful rugs ready for distribution through Anglicare. The squares are most gratefully received and they become rugs in a very short space of time.
Colourful beanies are also knitted and delivered regularly to Bunbury, these are then taken to the Mission for Seamen where they are gratefully received and given to visiting seamen to take to sea with them. |
